Your details on this site
This is a small, free site run by one umpire. It collects very little, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
Who runs the site
The Netball Umpire is run by Sam, an umpire based in Scotland (see the About page). Sam is responsible for the personal details described here. Questions about this page go to help@thenetballumpire.com.
The contact form
When you send a message, the form collects your name (optional), your email address and your message. They are sent as an email to help@thenetballumpire.com so Sam can read it and reply. They are not stored in a database on the site.
Messages are kept in that mailbox for as long as they are useful for answering you or following up on a correction, and are deleted on request.
Reporting a quiz question
The "Report this question" forms on the quizzes send the text you type, along with the question it refers to, to the same mailbox. You can also leave your name and email address. This is optional; they are only used to reply to you about your report, for example to let you know when a question has been corrected.
Spam checks on the forms
To stop automated spam, the contact and report forms use Google reCAPTCHA. When the form is shown, Google collects information such as your IP address, browser details and how you interact with the page, and may set a cookie, to judge whether you are a person. Google's use of that information is covered by its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. reCAPTCHA only loads on pages with a form, and on the quizzes only once you open the report form.
Analytics and cookies
The site uses Google Analytics to see which pages are read, but only if you agree to analytics cookies. The Cookie Policy explains the cookies in use, and you can change your choice at any time in Cookie Preferences.
Buying practice papers
Paid practice papers are sold through Payhip, which handles the payment and delivery. Payhip shares your name and email address with Sam so the order can be supported. See Payhip's privacy policy for how they handle your details.
Server logs
Like most websites, the server keeps short-lived technical logs, which can include IP addresses and browser details, to keep the site secure and working.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details held about you, or ask for them to be corrected or deleted, by emailing help@thenetballumpire.com. If you are unhappy with how your details have been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
